In a serene woodland setting, whether foraging for mushrooms or enjoying a leisurely stroll, enthusiasts often find themselves curious about various fungi beyond the well-known porcini, chanterelle, and parasol mushrooms. Identifying unfamiliar species accurately—understanding their names, appearances, and edibility—can be a daunting task.

The iFunch app offers a streamlined identification system that utilizes morphological and color characteristics to facilitate quick recognition of mushrooms encountered during your outing. This user-friendly approach aims to reduce errors in identification.

Additionally, the application now includes a robust recognition feature powered by artificial intelligence. Users can take a photograph of any fungus they encounter, and the app will search its database to find potential matches.

With access to over 420 carefully selected species, users can explore a wealth of photographs, illustrated tables, and detailed descriptions that enhance identification accuracy and provide interesting insights about each species. It is also possible to search for specific mushrooms through their names.

The mushroom images featured in the app are contributed by nature enthusiasts from around the globe, with opportunities for users to submit their own photographs as well. Notable photos will be acknowledged in future updates.

The app’s database is fully integrated, allowing users to browse without an internet connection at no additional cost.

* The mushroom recognition algorithm is developed using technologies from Dato ML, which specializes in machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions.
